We represented Midland Loan Services in repurchase litigation involving distressed commercial loans. We secured the repurchase of all loans in a commercial mortgage-backed securities trust — overcoming dismissal and summary judgment motions and uncovering compelling evidence of substandard underwriting practices across the entire loan pool.

We represented independent public school districts nationwide in three major pharmaceutical bankruptcies. Working closely with class counsel, we successfully established the school districts as a distinct creditor group in each case, resulting in meaningful distributions in the debtors’ plans of reorganization.

We represented the plan administrator for a bankrupt gene-sequencing company, handling a major malpractice case against a global law firm centered on complex questions of valuing a pre-revenue venture-stage business. We litigated the case in Los Angeles Superior Court through the eve of trial, securing a favorable outcome for the bankruptcy estate.

We served as Special Litigation Counsel for the Creditors’ Committee in the General Motors chapter 11 proceedings, successfully prosecuting a $1.5 billion avoidance action against JPMorgan and a syndicate of lenders, arguing novel UCC questions before the Second Circuit and the Delaware Supreme Court before resolving the case following a bellwether trial.

We defended numerous clients in lawsuits brought by the Trustee for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, securing a favorable resolution for investment funds wrongfully accused of having acted in bad faith — an outcome that was consequential both financially and reputationally.

We represented a former executive of an investment bank in FINRA arbitration involving claims for compensation and defamation following his termination. Our advocacy secured a financial award for our client, along with a formal correction of the false explanation given for his departure—an outcome that helped restore his professional reputation.
